But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

There has been a time change from 6:30 to 7:00 for the start tomorrow night. It now goes until 8:30pm.

The Coalition held a workshop last night at West Jeff Mid School. I did not attend but am interested in views/comments and any material from those who did. e-mail to
please and/or post here. Thank you.
Last night, I spoke with Ms. Tookie Nemchack, who's spearheading this effort, and she said the meeting was great - there was a wonderful amount of feedback and discussion from the people who attended. I'd love to hear a first-hand account from someone who attended as well, but here's what was posted on the
CRC Facebook Page
:
Project PLACE Workshop #1 was great.
We asked the audience for feedback on such subjects as; must see views, winter worthy activities, interesting historic spots, best indoor recreation and classes, post recreation destinations, and so much more. We asked then to share what they loved about Conifer and what they felt like was missing. The audience shared ideas on how they define "recreation". The answers ranged from biking our trails to square dancing!
Stay tuned as we reveal the results and prepare for Stakeholder interviews. If your group, club, business or organization is involved with recreation (active or passive), please make sure you are on our Stakeholder list. Email us at
. Make sure your voice is heard.
One thing is for sure, Conifer is rich in recreational opportunities.

The Conifer community is rallying residents, outdoor recreation enthusiasts and outlets for Project PLACE, an initiative of the Conifer Recreation Coalition to study and enhance the area's recreational opportunities. However, "this is not yet another rec district," said Tookie Nemchak, a local resident and co-chair of the effort.
What the Conifer Recreation Coalition wants instead is to bring together all recreation opportunities in the area under one effort to take advantage of funding opportunities, create programs and manage facilities.
The effort doesn't necessarily include only Conifer. The study area includes 123,000 acres and 21,000 residents along the Highway 285 corridor from Morrison to the Bailey area, extending to communities such as Pine and Buffalo Creek.
Nemchak said 17 people attended in addition to members of the steering committee, which has representatives from Jefferson County schools, open space, planning and zoning, and the Conifer Area Council, as well as local community groups and local businesses.
The CRC plans to hold two more workshops in March and May after fielding stakeholders in December and January and forming groups to draft preliminary recommendations.
A representative from Root House Studio will provide an update from the Conifer Recreation Coalition at a Conifer Area Council town hall meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at West Jefferson Middle School, 9449 S. Barnes Ave. in Conifer.
