I don't know if it's much different on an Android (never played with one), but on my iPhone I go to Settings, scroll down to Notifications, and turn off the button for Facebook. I can take a look next time we meet up if you haven't found it by then!
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Thanks archer. I set it to never. Did not see a refresh interval. No idea how it started or even why it has my phone #.
If you got an update to Facebook recently your settings may have been reset. I always check the setting, especially notifications, whenever an app it's updated.

Knowing you, I bet it was some geek down at NSA headquarters that inadvertently sent the updates to your phone instead of their data collection server. I'd call and complain.
