The founder and CEO said it'd be years before it happens, he's hoping 4 or 5. He said it'd be 2015 before they could get the new rules required for it past the FAA anyway.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — Online retailer Amazon.com’s idea for super-fast delivery of packages by unmanned aerial drone has brought a ‘‘not so fast’’ response from one U.S. senator.
Massachusetts Democrat Edward Markey says clear rules are needed to protect the privacy of Americans before commercial drones take to U.S. airspace."
The CEO said the difficulty they are facing is that these are autonomous drones. They have GPS coordinates as a destination. I can't remember his exact quote on 60 minutes, but it was something along the lines of it being a bad thing to have a drone land on a customer's head.
I'd think that would be bad unless they were delivering a hat.
