Holiday Tree Recycling

The Jefferson County Road and Bridge South Shop will be recycling holiday trees this year at no cost to residents. There is a 24-hour drop location outside the main gate of the shop, located at 9509 West Ute Avenue in Littleton.

Only real trees will be accepted. Please remove all decorations from the tree and drop it off where the signs are posted.

The Road and Bridge Shop will be accepting the trees until Friday, January 31, 2014.

Golden, CO :

Christmas tree recycling is provided by the City of Golden Forestry Division. Dates and locations published every December in the ”Golden Informer.” Contact the City Forrester at (303) 384-8141 with additional questions.


Lakewood, CO :

The City of Lakewood will accept live Christmas trees for recycling this holiday season. This program is for individual residents only and is not open to commercial businesses. Trees may be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3 to Sunday, Jan. 12 at the City Greenhouse, 9556 W. Yale Ave.

Please drop off trees only – no wreaths, garland, landscape waste or tree limbs. Remove all garland, lights, tinsel, ornaments, nails, bag, netting and tree stand. Leave the tree in the designated area at the greenhouse. Mulch made from the trees will be available for residents if they would like it for personal use.

Just a reminder: today is the last day that you can take your Christmas trees to the EDS Transfer Station in Evergreen, until 4pm. There are other locations accepting them until the end of the month (see previous post) if you aren't ready to take yours down though. :)

People can bring their undecorated trees (no ornaments, lights or tinsel, please) to the EDS Transfer Station (2 miles south of the stop light in downtown Evergreen on Hwy 73) on either January 4th or 11th (both Saturdays) between 8am and 4pm. The trees will be chipped and the mulch will be available for FREE after January 27th.
