He put the youtube tags around the link, rather than the url tags. 
Something else to know, because this sometimes happens as well: the youtube tags only work if it's http:// not https://, and exactly as your link is above with youtube.com/watch?v=gobblydeegook of letters and numbers only (if there are additional weird characters after the letters and numbers, delete all that stuff behind). It won't work if it's a mobile youtube or youtu.be link. Pain in the butt, I know, but nothing we can fix ourselves - it's phpBB.
