You Get the Credit!
IREA's board voted this week to approve the retirement of $15.7 million in capital credits. As a result, most IREA customers will see a credit on the March bill. The amount of credit depends on the customer's past usage. Capital credits are paid to IREA customers from the revenue above what is needed to maintain a financially strong electric utility. This year IREA will make its largest ever payment, and you get the credit!

This is a first. In the past checks were issued, but I'd think crediting the accounts would be a less expensive way of handling it.

Issuing credits does make sense, however I dont understand why if you have more than 1 account you will be issued checks. The credit on one property probably wont be enough to cover printing the check and the postage. Why do they make things so complicated for themselves?
Oh well, I will be happy for the credit.
