These locations will take you from the icy forests of Finland to the jungles of Bali and from the streets of Paris to the turquoise Mediterranean waters of Greece. As diverse as they are, there’s one thing tying them together – each location is perfectly suited for you to take a breather and relax.

Most of those locations make me want to just sit and take it all in. Beautiful places. Not sure I'd want to stay in the two that you can see through, however . . .

Yeah, I didn't care for the all-glass bubbles, especially with the snow all over them. I'm not relaxed if I feel cold. :)

Of course, the underwater rooms are almost as transparent...

Nice places but who wants to travel that far when many of us can step out the front or back door and see incredible beauty?

As I said when I shared this on the My Mountain Town Facebook page , though we've got a slice of heaven here in the foothills, nothing beats traveling the world learning more and coming home to find greater appreciation for the unique beauty, in more than just landscape, of home. There's beauty to find in what other cultures find important, in how they live, what they create, what they value, etc. And then to come home and compare it to ourselves, and our culture, means we can find greater appreciation for our ways, or maybe discover new ways that are better and incorporate them to make something even more magnificent. But what's definite is that no one has that opportunity who never leaves home.

Not on fb. The original post was about the beauty of the hotels in certain places. Didn't read anything about learning about the people or the culture or anything else. Looks like most people were more engrossed in sitting on their butts in hotel rooms with views. And have to agree that learning about people and culture can certainly make us appreciate our own areas more but some of us already know that.

Well, since I'm the only person who said anything about sitting, let me clarify. What I said was "Most of those locations make me want to just sit and take it all in. Beautiful places." Since my rear end is what I usually sit on, I guess you can crude it down to butt if that's your style. Don't know if you looked at any of the links, but (no pun intended) the opportunity to relax and appreciate the beauty of the settings is available without sitting in hotel rooms with views.

I see nothing wrong with appreciating the beautiful setting I live in on a daily basis but (again, no pun intended) also see nothing wrong with seeing other beautiful parts of the world.

Yes, it was about hotels to go to, but they are in different countries (save one in the US), so it's a logical step it seems to also think about whether one would want to visit that country or not. Not to make any assumptions, but don't most people who go to foreign countries go out and about to explore (even if it's only with a guided your group), rather than just sit in their hotel 24/7? It would be impossible to not learn something about a foreign culture, just from a taxi ride from the airport to the hotel itself.

I wasn't referencing you Mtn Gramma, I was more remarking about the places that just show people sitting around in the links.

And really how many people really learn anything about a culture with a taxi ride from the hotel to the airport. How many actually get out of their little enclave and spend time with the people. Not many.
