I had a lovely leisurely afternoon drive home yesterday of nearly 4 hours. I was especially surprised that Hwy 126 from Buffalo Creek to 285 was wet - no ice, no snow. I turned onto 285 and the condition of the road was a nightmare. The pavement went from wet to ice from the turn lane to the highway.

We received this message on Facebook this morning at 5:30a, so it may be cleared out but a heads-up just in case:
Accidenf just north of 126 north bound just after feed store, truck over the edge they may have to close 285 to get it out..

My drive home last night at 7:30p was on snow-pack over a sheet of ice (I went 30-40mph most of the way in my front-wheel drive lighter car). It wasn't going to improve by this morning, so please be careful. It was that way for most of the length of 285 from Conifer to Turkey Creek Canyon where it was warmer and the mag chloride had done it's job.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I'm leaving my little front wheel drive sedan in the driveway, not going anywhere. Not going to get my morning coffee at Loaf and Jug and I'm not going to pick up the insulin for the dog (I still have some in the bottle).

We have a short, gentle rise driveway that is usually no problem to get out of. But at the top, where the driveway meets the dirt road, the driveway tilts a bit to the left.

And when the plows push up a berm at the end of the driveway, my little car gets to the end and wants to slide off left, down the side of the hill.

Of course, it won't slide far, the pine trees will probably stop it.

I'm fine on 2-3 inches, but we got 5 inches and my little car has low clearance and just wants to fight me at the end of the driveway.

I'll wait. I have a website to start designing today. I'll stay in and do that.

SC... don't forget to email me the agenda of the CCofC meeting so I can get a head start on the article.

Had to go to the flats this morning. 285 was fine from Bailey to IMHS and then it went all to pot. Truck slid off before the light, saw the truck SC mentioned after the light. Insane til Tiny Town, piece of cake after the hogback. Like going thru time warps.

Niece went out this morning. RR's plan of staying in seems like a better one when it can be done.
