EVERGREEN – With wildfire season around the corner, a group of fire departments got a little practice Sunday.
Crews from Clear Creek Fire, Evergreen Fire, Fairmount Fire, Elk Creek Fire, Genesee Fire, Foothills Fire, Indian Hills Fire, Inter Canyon Fire, Denver Fire, Aurora Fire, the Jefferson County Sheriff and the Clear Creek Sheriff took part in a drill in the Floyd Hill area.
The teams simulated a fire, practicing fighting it on the front lines. Other teams also surveyed homes in the area to determine the best way to protect them.
Fire crews urge homeowners to practice wildfire mitigation on their properties.
