Accents and dialects don't help, aging ears and a lack of attention to the words of a song can also contribute; What you thought you heard vs. what was said/sung.

"There's a bathroom on the right..." lol
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
Disappointed not to see my #1, from "Groovin on a Sunday afternoon:
"You and me and Leslie -- groovin'."
I always wondered about Leslie. Then I learned it was "endlessly." Oh.
Sorry, Leslie, three's a crowd.
Then there's the cute little jingle I grew to love a few years ago, it was used in a Carl's Jr commercial, "My milkshake is better than yours." Kids heard me singing it around the house. "Mom! Do you know what that song is about?" Huh?! ("Warm it up, the boys are waiting.") Oh. Oh! :faint:
