Anyone Have Experience with Displayport to HDMI Cables?

I bought a new monitor recently and it has inputs for VGA, DVI, and HDMI. My video card has VGA, DVI, and Displayport outputs. I'm running the monitor at 1920 X 1080 resolution and the VGA signal is ok but not as sharp as I would like, the DVI is better but I'm wondering if the quality would be even better with a Displayport to HDMI cable. I've done a quick look around the tubes of the interwebs and found that Displayport to HDMI cables run around $50.00. I'd like to know if anyone else has run this type of connection before I fork over half a Benjamin only to discover it wasn't worth the cash. Thanks in advance for all replies!

Is displayport on a mac? I might have a cable you could try to see if it works. I'll check and let you know.

Amazon has displayport to Hdmi cables for $13. I buy all my cables from them, and they have been excellent, I use the mini Hdmi to HDMI for streaming movies and Dish network from my phone and tablet.

Renegade CJ, thanks for the sentiment but I'm driving a Dell XPS 630 with a Nvidia GeForce GT 640 video card.

archer, I did a search last night on Amazon and found 800-ish cables but only a couple that were Displayport to HDMI and they wanted $50-ish for all of them. Clearly I'm doing it wrong! I'll go do some more searching and maybe I can find a good cable at a price that won't bother me as much if the video quality isn't any better than the DVI cable.

Either way I'll post the results of the experiment, maybe I can save someone else from the same predicament or sing the praises of the Displayport to HDMI cable.

I searched for displayport to HDMI cables, they have them starting at about $6 for a short one, the $13 was for 10'
