17 May 2014 Staunton State Park One Year Anniversary Celebration, Park Open 8:00am-8:00pm The Friends of Staunton Sate Park, park staff and our volunteers, are both proud and excited to announce that Staunton State Park is preparing to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Staunton opened to the public May 18th last year, and we have exceeded all our goals and hopes for our first year.
Please join us Saturday, May 17th & Sunday, May 18th, for our 1 year anniversary.
Activities will include:
Face Painting and Craft Table
Hunt for the Reynolds Gang Treasure that has been buried for over 150 years
Guided Hikes: Staunton Cabin 10am & 2pm, Mystery History Hikes 11am & 1pm
Musical performances
Food preparation demonstrations, Cabin building demos
Medicinal herb identification and Medical care 100 years ago
Presentations and displays by local historical groups
Living History Days 10:00am - 04:00pm Experience the Story of Staunton State Park! The story of Staunton State Park began almost 100 years ago. This year in honor of the park’s First Anniversary we are hosting a Living History Celebration. This event will include family friendly activities. Activities will be held at the Ranch Hand Group Picnic Area as well as the Staunton Cabin District. Join the celebration!

24 May 2014 Coloration and Adaptation 11:00am - 01:00pm This "camouflage" hike will introduce the concepts of protective coloration and adaptation, as well as enhancing observation skills. Family friendly activity. Meet at the Group Picnic Area.
Living with Wildlife in Bear Country 01:00pm - 03:00pm This program includes stories, crafts and games to give children a better understanding of Colorados bears. Meet at the Group Picnic Area.
25 May 2014 Scavenger Hunt at Staunton State Park Pick up your scavenger Hunt List at Entrance Gate and enjoy a self guided adventure while hiking any of the Parks magnificent trails. This is a family friendly activity. Location: Entrance Station
The Great Bird Adventure at Staunton State Park 11:00am - 01:00pm This family friendly adventure includes exploring birds native to the Rocky Mountain area through discussion and video, followed by a 30 min. hike on the Davis Pond Trail. Meet at the Group Picnic Area.
Guided Wildflower Hike at Staunton State Park 01:00pm - 03:00pm Everyone will enjoy this informational hike while discovering beautiful Rocky Mountain wildflowers. Meet at the Group Picnic Area
