Thank you Conifer for making the 2nd Annual Elk Creek Car Wash a success.
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014, volunteer and career firefighters from the Elk Creek Fire Department gathered in the First Bank parking lot at 25617 Conifer Road, Conifer, Colorado. They parked their fire engines, rolled out hoses, raised the Flag and started washing cars.
Over the course of the day citizens of the community rolled in their vehicles; everything from subcompact cars to pickups so tall the firefighters had to use ladders to wash the roofs.
Firefighters family members helped out, even son of Elk Creek Captain Jacob Ware, little 2-yr old Ian Ware, who sprayed as much water on the firefighters as the cars. Everyone who came out got a good laugh and a great car wash.
$1,733 was received in donations. Firefighters Berkeley Guy and Tim Godfrey, who organized the event, estimate that around 100 vehicles were washed. Proceeds will be used to purchase new American Flags for Elk Creek’s four stations, and make improvements to the firefighters living quarters and gym.
