I read the novel a couple of years ago, I'm curious to see how well TNT managed to adapt it into a TV series. Anyone else familiar with the novel and/or TV series; not really a fair question because the TV series debuted tonight.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
I haven't watched the show yet but now I am interested in the book. Read John Ringo's series about a plague overtaking the land and people being forced to the ocean to survive? Will probably check out the TV series this week.

How did you like the book? I have never heard of it. I had assumed this show would be as abysmal as that rouge SSBN show from a while back. I would be happy to be pleasantly surprised.
I've only watched one episode so it's premature of me to pass judgement. For me it's the difference between reading a book and letting your minds eye provide the special effects and details of how things looked, sounded, felt, and smelled and seeing the video representation of what someone else thinks the look and feel should be.
If I was there I can provide you with a vivid account of an event; there's no substitute for having been there yourself. There are details that each individual takes away from any experience that the person standing an arms length away might not recall.
I'm willing to give the TV show some time, I'll get a few more episodes under my belt and then decide what I really think.

For me seeing the movie/tv version after reading the book is a recipe for disappointment.
I just started to watch and 3 minuets in the CO returned a salute without his cover on. Stupid sh** like that bugs me. Of course by the those regs could have changed.

Did you notice that none of those airframes are Russian or even badly disguised American helicopters? I'm starting to develop a bias toward the book and away from the TV show...
