Pat Bowlen has Alzheimer's, Will no Longer be Involved in Team Operations

The Denver Broncos have confirmed to 9NEWS that longtime owner Pat Bowlen has Alzheimer's and that he will no longer be involved in team operations.

Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth told 9NEWS in a text message that Bowlen will be focusing on his health.

Very sad. Knew it was coming. Actually glad they announced it so they don't have to hide anymore.

Mr. Bowlen has been a blessing to Colorado. Very few owners care about winning as much as he did...always made the effort every year. Unlike the owners of the Rockies, he didn't worry about "culture", he worried about winning while having a team we could be proud of.

Thanks Mr. Bowlen!!! Hopefully Ellis is the right guy and He and Elway can continue the tradition!

Bowlen has made the Denver Broncos the best sports organization in the region. Thanks Pat for caring more about winning than the bottom line, and having the smarts to make the right choices in personnel and spending.
