Supermoon Sunday & the Perseid Meteor Showers!

Aug. 10 brings the start of the "Old Faithful" of meteor showers, the Perseids, as well as a super moon.

The prolific Perseids show up once a year, in August, filling the night sky with as many as 80 shooting stars an hour. This year's show coincides with the arrival of a super moon, which occurs when the Earth and moon are at their closest.

I'm gonna make a COSTCO run to stock up on sky viewing supplies, should be one hell of a light show!

I doubt we'll see too many meteors with a full moon present.

Just took a look to see if the clouds have started to clear, we won't see much of anything if the clouds stick around...

Pretty funny to see Neil Degrasse Tyson's thoughs about supermoons. Not worth the hype for such a marginal difference in closeness.
