In reading the comments on the family's Facebook Page, they have been in contact with the Jeffco Sheriff's office, but an Amber Alert is not being issued because the cousin has no car so they believe he won't leave the area. I'm sorry, but I disagree with this choice because she's a minor and girls are trafficked all the time, even in this area. Please help Share this and spread the word. The family is distraught and stuck back in NC - I can't even imagine how I'd be feeling if it were me and I were over 1,000 miles away from my baby.

Caitlin has now been missing for 11 days. One of the comments that I saw on one of the relative's Facebook pages was a person claiming that she thought she'd met her at Wellington Lake, and that she thought it was her because the girl had introduced herself as Caitlin. If true, then she's in our area - please spread the word!

Here's the most recent poster:

For some reason, her mother refuses to officially report her as missing, so Jeffco can only continue to treat her as a runaway rather than issuing an Amber Alert and BOLO for her cousin.

Maybe she has family pressuring her to avoid criminalizing her nephew?

There are some strange family dynamics happening, but frankly I don't care, it's none of my business (unless she was being abused at home and ran away to escape that situation). I care only about finding this young woman.

Maybe the folks up at Wellington have an email you could send the poster to.

Thanks HC. It's an unconfirmed sighting, but it never hurts to put others on alert - I don't know if anyone in Park Co has this on their radar. Supposedly the cousin had no car so not sure how they could've gotten there, but it's easy to find rides, etc.

Hello all, I actually signed up for this forum just to respond to this thread. Caitlin is my daughter's best friend, and we're working closely with her grandmother to try to find her. We very much appreciate this information being shared here. I did want to comment on a couple of posts here. Caitlin definitely isn't being abused. She has lived with her grandmother off and on for years because her mother, well, she has some issues and is young and self-centered. Unfortunately, her mother has custody even though Caitlin was living with her grandmother. Since Caitlin has been missing, her grandmother has done everything possible to work with police, share information, etc. Her mother has refused to contact the Center for Missing and Exploited Children for unknown reasons. That is why there hasn't been media coverage. There isn't any effort to avoid criminalizing this boy's behavior - we're not a bit bothered about that if there are any chargeable offenses - it's just that very little can be done until grandmother can get custody - hopefully late next week.

We are all in Charlottesville, Virginia, and it is difficult to assist with the investigation from here. The aunt that Caitlin was visiting, has refused to cooperate with police and is no longer speaking with either Caitlin's mother or grandmother.

At any rate, we very much appreciate efforts to share this information in Colorado and feel certain that it is people like you who will help us find her. Thanks, again.

This is a very sad situation, I can understand why a young girl in the situations described might feel that her best and safest option would be to flee. On the other hand, 15 year old kids don't always know what's best for them. I don't have all of the details and I have made several assumptions, regardless of all of that I hope Catlin is safe, happy, and able to continue her young life to adulthood. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Catlin, I pray for a resolution to this situation that satisfies Catlin and the family.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
