Car trespasser steals officer’s gear
October 1, 2014

Jefferson County, CO. – Sometime over the night of September 29, 2014, a Denver Police officer’s personal car was trespassed in the 9000 block of W. Cross Dr. The suspect stole a white IKEA brand duffle bag containing a Glock handgun, Denver Police Department badge, identification card, and radio. The bag also contained numerous other pieces of equipment as well as personal property belonging to the officer. The officers’ car was locked and entry was made by shattering a window.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens that if they are unsure if an actual officer is stopping them, they should continue driving to a well-lit and populated location while calling 911 to confirm that the stop is authentic.

If anyone has knowledge of this crime, they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612.

You think a LEO would know more than most the dangers of leaving your duty weapon unsecured in a vehicle.
