There's plenty of interest in developing the area in the Rooney Valley, about 2,000 acres along C-470 bordered by West Alameda Parkway to the north and Morrison Road to the south.
However, it's not the kind of interest that fits with the original plans of Jefferson County, Lakewood and Morrison, which all own property in the area.
Morrison and Lakewood have an intergovernmental agreement and a shared Rooney Valley Master Plan, which will be getting an update in 2015.
Jefferson County's central plains area plan and Morrison and Lakewood's Rooney Valley master plan have emphasized the need for commercial activity centers to bring in the infrastructure and revenue needed to support increased residents in the area.
