Don't know why this business failed overall, but up here most either commute to work in town or do occasional shopping trips to town. Need to offer something different or unmatched convenience.
Whenever you run a business in a small town you have to be consistant and customer service needs to be top notch.
I can't speak for anyone else but I have never gone into the Alco without leaving frustrated.
There prices were way to high on many things.
They would advertise a sale but had these hoops you had to jump through that were unseen. You would expect a sale price and then the cashier would explain all these things you had to do to get it.
A have never left the store without debating a price on at least one thing in my basket.
The quality of the clothing there was less than great.
There were lots of issues that no one seemed interested in fixing.
Just my opinion.
