Recycle Your Christmas Tree This Year
Posted by mrode on Nov 15, 2014

Choosing a good old-fashioned live Christmas tree is the most sustainable way to celebrate our favorite holiday tradition. Real trees absorb carbon dioxide and emit fresh oxygen as they grow, and tree farms stabilize soil, protect water supplies, provide refuge for wildlife and employ thousands of workers.

After Christmas, Evergreen's Alliance for Sustainability + YOU (EAS+Y) arranges for FREE Christmas tree recycling at the Evergreen Lutheran Church on Hwy 73 (2 miles south of the stoplight in Evergreen) for two weeks after New Years. Lam Tree Service chips the trees and offers the mulch for FREE later that month. Trees may be dropped off between 9am-5pm on Jan. 3rd or Jan. 10th. Call 303-670-6385 with any questions.

New this year – curbside pickup!

If you live in north Evergreen, the Evergreen High School Instrumental Boosters will pick up your tree curbside and deliver it to the recycling site on Jan 10th in exchange for a free-will donation. The Boosters will pick up trees in the following neighborhoods:

Buffalo Park Road (from Highway 73 to Evergreen Heights)
El Pinal
Hiwan Country Club
Hiwan Hills
Island at Hiwan
Promontory
Ridge at Hiwan
Soda Creek
Tanoa
Trails at Hiwan
Troutdale
Wah-Keeney

Call 720-328-0396 with any questions about the curbside pickup.

If, after taking down your tree, you decide that you don't want your lights any longer, please consider donating them to Lights For Life, an organization that helps families who have kids with cancer. Moore Lumber & Ace Hardware are accepting donations on their behalf at both their Pine Junction and Bailey locations now through Feb 15.

See here for their post with more details: mymountaintown.com/forum/194-area-non-pr...s-to-lights-for-life

Thank you Moore Lumber!
