What kind of bird is this?

Sorry not a great picture but every time I open the door to get a better picture he flies away. He has been back to the feeder several times today.

Beak is not crossed and the female that shows up has a light yellow belly.

Can't see it very clearly but based on your descriptions and size it looks like it might be a male Pine Grosbeak, the other a female. We have seen some around here so that is why I think it might be. Do they have very large beaks?

The beak does not cross so I do not think it is a Gross Beak and it is smaller than the Gross Beaks we sometimes see here.

I think of you are confusing Pine Grosbeaks with Red Crossbills. Grosbeaks bills are stubby and curved but do not cross.
Looks like a pine Grosbeaks to me. We had crossbills all weekend long.
