From the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office:
We are currently investigating a deputy impersonator and are asking for the public's help to find additional victims.

On April 19th at 9:30 p.m., two teenagers were driving out of a dirt cul-de-sac located at the north end of North Ranch Road where they had been driving in a field. Another car coming from the opposite direction pulled in front of the teenagers forcing them to stop.

A man dressed in shorts and a t-shirt got out of the car and identified himself as an off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy. He began yelling at them for driving through some vegetation, and asked the driver for his license and registration. The man then either made a call or pretended to make a call to someone, relaying the driver’s information over the phone. He then returned the license and registration to the driver and told them they were free to go.

The suspect is not a Sheriff’s Office employee. He is a resident of the area, and is not being identified pending further identification.

Investigators believe this suspect has committed similar violations and are seeking additional victims. If anyone had a similar incident occur in the area of North Ranch Road, they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612 #Jeffco
