A Continuing Conversation with CDOT - Telephone Town Halls

June 1, 2016 - Statewide Transportation Plan - Telephone Town Halls Providing Forum for Coloradans

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is hosting nine telephone town halls over the next seven weeks, providing the public with a forum to ask questions and give input about a variety of transportation issues.

Between June 7 and July 13, residents in all 64 counties will be called at random through an automated system and invited to take part in their regional town hall (see dates and regions below). Coloradans who choose to join the conversation can listen in and also express their thoughts to their transportation commissioner and key CDOT personnel on how the Department is addressing the state's transportation needs, important projects or initiatives and funding.

"Together We Go is an on-going conversation about transportation with the citizens of Colorado," said CDOT Executive Director Shailen Bhatt. "It allows everyone to take a look at what we've accomplished so far to make sure we’re all moving together in the right direction. It also gives us the opportunity to hear from people on how best to invest our limited funds and the projects they think should be a priority."

The interactive calls will reach out to approximately 350,000 people statewide. After answering the phone, the call will be automatically connected to the meeting. Anyone who does not receive a call but wants to participate can dial in, toll-free, at 1-877-229-8493, PIN 112034.

"It's vital that we hear from the citizens in every county," said Transportation Commission Chairwoman Kathy Connell. "Getting people to attend public meetings can be difficult. A telephone town hall is a new approach that allows us to have these important discussions and people don't even need to leave home. We need to hear from you. Please call in!

All town halls begin at 7 p.m. and are scheduled as follows:
Wednesday, June 8 Northwest Colorado
Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt

Tuesday, June 16 Metropolitan Denver
Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson

Thursday, June 23 Intermountain
Chaffee, Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Lake, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, Pitkin and Summit

Thursday, June 30 Pikes Peak Region
El Paso, Fremont, Park and Teller

TBD Metropolitan Denver
Adams, Boulder and Broomfield

Approximately 60,000 people participated when CDOT held similar telephone town halls in 2014.

We've mentioned before how we have started a dialog with our county, state, and federal representatives on how to get Hwy 285 moved up in priority for attention/projects completed by CDOT so we can improve the safety and congestion we experience on our highway. There are some steps we can take ourselves, but the more voices telling CDOT to do more for Hwy 285, the stronger our efforts.

Please take part in these upcoming Telephone Town Hall meetings - if you don't receive a call at 7pm on the date listed for your county, you can dial in, toll-free, at 1-877-229-8493, PIN 112034. Tomorrow night is Jeffco; June 30th Park County. Thank you!
June 16: Jeffco
June 23: Chaffee, Summit
June 30: Park, Teller
