To Our Community,
We have two CTI students battling cancer and in need of support. One is a teenager just diagnosed with cancer last week who comes from a family that already struggles financially and the other is one of our 3rd Dan black belt instructors who has suffered a relapse of cancer after a long first struggle and remission.
The teenager (14 years old) was just diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma 2 weeks ago after going to the emergency room for a bad cough that wouldn't go away. She was immediately admitted to pediatric ICU and just began chemotherapy treatments. She is in good spirits and is doing as well as can be expected. She is being raised by a single mom who had to take 12 weeks of unpaid leave to be with her.
As you may or may not know, one of our instructors has battled breast cancer for the last several years. She was in remission and just found out a few weeks ago that the cancer has returned in different areas of her body. Her family has not only struggled financially and emotionally with these two bouts of cancer, but her son also battled cancer and thankfully is still in remission.
We would like to take up a collection for the families in hopes of providing some financial relief. If you are able to donate, you may do so at any campus. You may designate which family or we will split the donations between the two families. 100% of each donation will go to the families and will remain anonymous.
We would like to collect what we can by this Thursday, April 20th.
Thank you in advance for your continued generosity and everything you do to support our community.
