3 Ways to Give:One of our heroes needs your help!
Dave Montesi started his career with Evergreen Fire in 1997 as a volunteer firefighter. He soon realized that the medical side was his calling, so he went to paramedic school and has been with the Evergreen Fire EMS staff since 1999. In 2002, Dave started EPAD- Evergreen Public Access Defibrillation, a non-profit whose mission is to facilitate access to AEDs in order to increase the survival for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. To date, EPAD’s efforts have saved five lives! He has also taught thousands of Evergreen residents free CPR. As a result of Dave’s successful EPAD launch, and for many other reasons, he was awarded Paramedic of the Year in 2008 by the Colorado Department of Public Health and the EMS Association of Colorado. This year, he was awarded the community service award from the Daughters of the American Revolution for “demonstrating a true passion for keeping our community safe” with CPR classes and placing AEDs in our community.
Dave has sacrificed so much time selflessly serving our community, and now he needs our help. Dave has been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. It’s a type of skin cancer that spreads quickly and has been found in his lymph nodes. The planned treatment will include surgery and costly systemic immunotherapy. Though Dave’s legacy is often putting others first, now he will have to focus on his own health. This is where we come in. A PayPal account has been set up in Dave’s name for donations at www.youcaring.com/search/go?w=Dave%20MONTESI%20 . Per the Montesi’s request, any funds received that are not used will go towards melanoma research and helping other families with cancer.
