Would you like to be part of a program that brings smiles to faces and joy in hearts of all involved? Come volunteer for Staunton’s Track Chair Program and take one hike a month with someone renting one of our park Action Trackchairs. Experience the most rewarding time outdoors you’ll have in our gorgeous Staunton State Park - Colorado Parks and Wildlife! Details below on upcoming volunteer training dates and how to get involved.
STAUNTON STATE PARK NEEDS VOLUNTEER HELP!
Colorado Parks and Wildlife values the right of every visitor to experience our state’s natural beauty. To provide this opportunity to the disabled community, Staunton State Park offers the use of several track chairs, which allows visitors to explore designated trails within the park. Our Track Chair Program (with no costs to the disabled) began in 2017, and is the first of its kind in the nation. It has been a resounding success.
Thanks to our generous Friend of Staunton State Park group, we are expanding our program for 2018. We’ve already added a program coordinator, and now we need additional volunteers to accompany our guests as they experience trails in the great outdoors.
As a track chair volunteer candidate, you’ll be required to attend ONE of the three training sessions offered. The training sessions are currently scheduled for:
April 7th from 9am-12pm
April 28th from 9am-12pm
May 16th from 9am-12pm
Track chair volunteers do not have a required number of outings per month, but we would like those who have time to assist as much as possible.
If you are interested in a heart warming opportunity to help others while volunteering in a spectacular location - here’s your chance! Please complete the following online form to start the process:

This program was a huge success last year, with over 100 disabled visitors able to enjoy a hike in the great outdoors. Reservations for the 2018 season open May 1st with chairs going out starting June 1st.
We are working toward purchasing a 3rd Track Chair and have maintenance to do on Mark1 and Mark2 (new wheels and batteries are most pressing). If you would like to donate toward this effort, please submit a secure online payment here:
