Fire Awareness Sign for Hwy 285

Our thanks to the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce for sending this message for our Leadership Evergreen Class of 2017:

For those who were unable to attend the last Chamber meeting the Leadership Evergreen class of 2017 has spearheaded a Fire Awareness sign for both the Conifer and Evergreen communities. The Conifer location is to be built near Our Lady of the Pines on southbound 285. The Conifer location is approximately $2,000 short of the total cost of $6,000. The Evergreen sign is fully funded.

The permit from CDOT is for a June start. With fire season rapidly approaching the goal is to have the remainder funded so as to not delay construction.

If you are willing to help with funding please reach out to Davis Linden at either This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 303-526-0133.

Any amount from $1 to $2,000 will help get us to our goal!

Every class chooses a project that will benefit the community in some way. The Class of 2017 chose not one but two projects, the other an ongoing monthly celebration of a different first responder organization where they gather items the people in that agency could use most, and collect thank you cards for them. See this post for more.

Their second project was to research the cost and feasibility of constructing two fire awareness signs to be placed somewhere along Hwy 285 and I-70 for those who come up the mountains to visit or who live here. The goal being that having them along the two highways that are the "entrances" to the Foothills and beyond would be the best possible placement for highest visibility to alert folks when fire danger is high.

These signs would need to be durable, made of sturdy materials, easily changeable, and hopefully not too costly to maintain. The Class has procured enough funding for one sign, but they are in need of the last $2,000 in order to build both as camping season hits full tilt. If you could find even a few dollars toward this goal, we would be most grateful. The Leadership Evergreen Legacy Fund is a full 501(c)3 so your donations will be tax-deductible. Please contact Davis Linden (contact info above) for more information and to make a donation.

Thank you!

Ribbon Cutting for Wildfire Awareness sign completed by the Leadership Evergreen Class of 2017!

Please join the Class of 2017 for the official ribbon-cutting of the Wildfire Awareness sign in Evergreen.

We are asking attendees to carpool from the park n ride located next to Alpine Rescue/right off of I-70 to the sign location. Parking is MINIMAL at the site as the sign is located along the roadside of busy Evergreen Parkway.

The ribbon cutting will be a very brief ceremony with photo opportunities. It is a chance for the Class to officially unveil this important community project and bring attention to the importance of wildfire awareness.
