Most major school districts in Denver metro closed due to credible threat
From Jeffco Public Schools:
Schools Closed Wednesday
We apologize for notifying families late at night, however we want to share information as soon as we have it. The following message is being sent to families and staff via phone, text, and email. It may take some time to cycle through all recipients.

In collaboration with other Denver-metro area school districts, all Jeffco Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, April 17 due to the ongoing safety concern. All facilities and programs are closed for the day – no employees are to report. There will be no afternoon activities or athletic competitions. We will continue to keep families updated on this situation before the end of the day on Wednesday.

En colaboración con otros distritos escolares del área metropolitana de Denver, todas las Escuelas Públicas de Jeffco estarán cerradas el miércoles 17 de abril debido a la preocupación de seguridad en curso. Todas las instalaciones y los programas están cerrados por el día, sin que los empleados se reporten. No habrá actividades por la tarde o competiciones atléticas. Per Platte Canyon School District:

In collaboration with other Denver-metro area school districts, all Platte Canyon Schools will be closed on Wednesday, April 17 due to an ongoing safety concern. All facilities and programs are closed for the day – no employees are to report. There will be no afternoon activities or athletic competitions. We will continue to keep families updated on this situation before the end of the day on Wednesday. All students who have already been picked up by our buses will be returned to their regular stops as soon as possible.

Hope this is resolved today. We don't want the kids to miss so much school. Plus often parents have to miss work to stay home with their children. And low income kids may miss meals.
