Predictions? I am going to say we should have a moderate fire season. The woody areas seem to have enough moisture for this Summer. I am worried about the grasslands. What happens so often in wet seasons, is the grass grows tall and fast and then when the moisture dries out, there are millions of acres of fuel just waiting for a stray spark. Hopefully the rains will continue for most of the fire season and I am proven wrong.

Because this is a rural agricultural area......the ranchers, farmers still BURN off the overgrowth
and clean their irrigation ditches with fire......first time I saw SMOKE on the hillsides, several plumes, I lost it......TOTALLY different mindset here on the western slope (Grand Valley)....4 yrs
later I still can't get use to seeing smoke plumes in the area.
I do like seeing the USFS and other jurisdictions doing a great job during the Winter to burn slash piles and decrease fuel for the coming fire season. The farmers burning their ditches, etc at the right times helps also.
