Detours for Foxton Road, Pleasant Park Road, Kennedy Gulch Road and Pleasant Park Road on-ramps to US 285

Per CDOT, starting Wednesday, June 26th, the Colorado Department of Transportation and ABCO Contracting will be closing various on-ramps that connect to US Highway 285 around Conifer. Crews are milling existing pavement, waterproofing bridge decks, paving new asphalt and adding new stripping on the two bridges located to the north of town and as well as the two bridges located south of town. These projects are part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.” initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public.

TRAVEL IMPACTS

Access on to US 285 will be detoured. Location and dates of detours:
  • Northbound US 285 at South Turkey Creek Road from June 26th to June 28th and July 1st, use the detour to Conifer Road for northbound US 285 access.
  • Southbound US 285 at Conifer Road from July 2nd to July 3rd and July 8th, use detour to South Dallman Drive for southbound US 285 access.
  • Southbound US 285 at Kennedy Gulch Road from July 9th to July 11th, use detour to Pleasant Park Road for southbound US 285 access.
  • Southbound US 285 at Kitty Drive from July 9th to July 11th, use detour to SH 73 for southbound US 285 access.
  • Northbound US 285 at Foxton Road from July 12th and July 15th to July 17th, use detour to Richmond Hill to northbound US 285 access.

Travel impacts will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and Friday 7 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with various lane closures on US 285 from mile point 235 to 239. Drivers can expect slight traffic delays and speed reductions to 45mph during work hours. Work is expected to take place until late July 2019, barring weather and/or shipment delays.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
