Helicopter Training Tonight at Elk Creek Fire Station 1

27 Jun 2019 17:49 #1 by ElkCreekFireDepartment
Hello community! We wanted to let you know that, at approximately 10pm this evening, June 27, the “Children’s 1” helicopter will conduct some night vision goggle training at Elk Creek Fire Station 1 on Richmond Hill Road. This will involve a few landings and take-offs, so you will likely see the helicopter circle the area a few times. We know this caused some curiosity about what was happening the last time – so we wanted to give you a heads up!

The road will be briefly blocked during take offs and landings, so if you happen to be stopped there by a fire or police vehicle, you shouldn’t have to wait very long.

The Children’s 1 helicopter carries a team dedicated to pediatric and neonate patients. With the new Children’s Hospital Colorado now open in Colorado Springs, there are more pilots training on this helicopter. They train up here in the mountains to get comfortable with our landing zones.

In case of emergency, please dial 911.
