JeffCo Sheriff’s Office Enforces Seatbelt Laws
Countywide Seatbelt Enforcement July 15 – July 21
Jefferson County, CO. –The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting the third of three seatbelt enforcement operations from July 15 – June 21, 2019.
The Traffic Unit and Patrol deputies will focus efforts in unincorporated rural communities and canyon areas to find seatbelt violations.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received grant funds to support this proactive initiative sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and CDOT.
The grant helps fund more patrol deputies during these dates to specifically enforce Colorado seatbelt laws. During the two prior seatbelt enforcement operations this year, the Sheriff’s Office issued 562 summonses related to seatbelt violations.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to reducing the number of motor vehicle fatalities and increasing driver safety awareness. A recent study shows that statewide, 14% of the motoring public drive unrestrained but account for more than 50% of the traffic related fatalities. Therefore, we encourage everyone to wear their seatbelts while driving safely and responsibly.
