We have received reports of a scam in which a live caller tells a home- or business-owner that their meter will be replaced and electric service interrupted for up to 72 hours. Though IREA is currently installing new meters in several areas of our service territory, customers will receive a mailed postcard several weeks ahead of time. Installation typically requires service interruption of only a few minutes, if at all. Please call us immediately at (800) 332-9540 if you think you have been targeted by scammers.
