The Park County Coroners Office can confirm the death of a 6 year old child on February 5th. This child was a previously medically compromised individual with Cystic Fibrosis and contracted Influenza B. We will not be releasing the name of the child and if you know the family we ask you please respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.
We want to remind the public that, as this is a devastating loss for the family and our community, we are at the peak of Flu season and the hospitalization and death rate in the United States remains very low according to the CDC. We ask that you visit www.cdc.gov/flu/ for more information on prevention and real time information about influenza.
