From Jeffco Sheriff's Office:
Fireworks=Fire

Dear south JeffCo, you’re in first place, but we wouldn’t exactly call it winning.

We’ve compiled these hotspots of fireworks calls to help our deputies find those of you lighting off fireworks, all of which are illegal right now because we’re in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.

This week alone we’ve had at least three fires that were started by fireworks. Given the dry fire conditions, it doesn’t take much at all to start a fire.

While many of us love seeing fireworks in the sky, it’s not worth the risk right now in addition to traumatizing veterans, animals and those with sensory challenges.

Like every other jurisdiction in the metro, we’ve been inundated with calls about fireworks the past few weeks and we know they’re only going to increase this week. That’s why we’ll have deputies and volunteers focusing on fireworks calls this week as we go into the July 4th weekend.

Be aware that just like previous years the JCSO and Golden Police will close Lookout Mountain’s Lariat Loop on Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. That’s where two of the fires were

Please find other ways to safely celebrate this holiday weekend.
