Xcel Energy Performing Wildfire Mitigation Work in Jeffco
Xcel Energy Colorado's contract pilots will be performing inspections in October along its system. The work involves flying a helicopter over 300 feet above Xcel Energy poles, lines and wires to collect data. The helicopter will be collecting Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data and photos, which will be used to perform modeling and analysis of Xcel's system and identify and help address potential hazards and keep customers safe.
Flights are currently scheduled to occur in Boulder County, Clear Creek County, and Jefferson County. Flights, beginning on October 5 and continue for approximately two weeks including the weekends, weather permitting.
