A work question

Just because my head is going to explode from bafflement, and to verify I'm not totally nuts.

If you worked for a place, and certain policies, practices, etc were changed - and all you did was whine, and bitch and moan as loudly as possible, wouldn't "sympathetic" bosses escort you to some "extended time off" of a permanent nature, so you could find somewher else to work where you would be happier?

I'm asking because I freelance for several news agencies, and the one is kind enough to give their freelancers an forum to discuss, connect, and so forth. well, said company just did an upgrade, and the board there is FULL of people just bitching, whinng, complaining, demanding apologies. These are FREELANCERS - not even employees. (Note, it's the same crowd of 10 or so doing this)

If you were said company, wouldn't you have told some of these folks that their services were no longer required?

I know I sure as hell would have. The company is being more than tolerant, IMO.

This crowd of freelancers just seem to have no clue how easily freelancers can be replaced.

They make my head hurt, and make me baffled - just because its online work, common work courtesy is not required?

Sorry Local Historian, what you are thinking is a primo place to work....I have worked in too many places where the people beotch all the time about other people, the politics on getting things done and everything else. In the real world people have affairs with their co-workers, they have favorites, and you can't ever complain! I have tried to stay away from these issues and try to remain aloof at work but you still find out about this stuff. This is the real world and all of this does happen. I have complained about no one telling us information, like if my boss is even going to be around and I have even emailed it....some things just don't change. And in some cases the real companies don't know just how easy it is to replace some people....but think of it on the other side...the grass is always greener remember...you can fire the people who know what is going on and hire people who don't know but on the long road down the way we will still have the same problem!

My personal motto is if I don't like where I am, try to fix it and if I can't fix it...find a new place! Unfortunately in this market that isn't always easy. I was lucky this last time and believe me this place isn't perfect either!!! I am sure I didn't fully explain this but I am not a wordsmith and am not always good at what saying what I feel.

I've been thinking of entering the freelance writing market. I'd like a chance to compete against these freelancers in a positive, professional, manner. Could you please send a PM with a link?

I used to do Computer consulting. I learned something important that helped me advance my career that I'd like to pass on... "Complain in private, Praise in public".
