The 2021 Chipping Program registration is now open!
Due to ongoing collaboration between the Elk Creek and Inter-Canyon fire districts, we are pleased to announce the program is now available to all residents in both districts.
Registration will close on April 30 or when the resident limit is reached.. If you clear woody vegetation from around your home and stack it in a slash pile, we’ll chip it at no cost.
In the spring of 2021, when the weather allows, the module will prioritize the left-over piles from the 2020 chipping season for those who have signed up on the website. Starting April 1st, there will be one open-sign up period on this web page.
The sign-up period will close after the first 600 applicants or until April 30th. We will then evaluate the chipping requests and split them into groups based on location. Applicants will then be sent a notification of the group they have assigned for the year by May 14th. We will regularly make announcements via social media and the website of the group we are currently servicing and when the next group can anticipate their work to begin. Additionally, a 15 pile limit per address will be implemented.
While we will do our best to stick with the outlined schedule above, we continue to assess the most appropriate measures to protect the health and safety of our personnel, the local community, and society at large in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and our wildfire response priorities. As a result, the Chipping Program might be affected in ways that we can't currently predict.
We currently have 566 sign ups for the Chipping Program. Our capacity is 600; if you'd like us to come by your property and chip your slash for free this year, please submit your request at the link below as soon as possible.

Pile Guidelines
Piles must be stacked by 8 a.m. on the scheduled chipping day. Chipping will take place Monday through Friday. Improperly stacked piles, and any piles stacked after 8 a.m, may not be identified or collected.
Stack piles neatly (no bags), with the large ends of branches facing the road.
Place piles within 5 feet of the roadway, but not touching the road or in drainage ditches.
Maximum pile size is 5 'x 5' x 5'. There is a 15-pile limit per address for each sign up period.
After crews have removed your pile, clear away any remaining branches, needles and debris.
Do not combine piles with neighbors' piles or place piles in other neighborhoods. No piles that have been created by any machinery.

Chipping Program Update:
Our fuels crew and Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District's are still working diligently on the chipping list and finalizing the groups, and hope to have this completed soon. Thank you for your patience as they organize all 590+ sign ups (what a fantastic interest in the program - Thank You ALL for doing mitigation)!
As reported during last night's Elk Creek Fire Board of Director's Meeting, the 2021 Chipping Program is finishing up on time with the last of the sign-ups for this season. All told, the crew will have chipped slash at over 700 homes in ECFPD and Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District - a new record and one that has us proud of our fuels crew and all of you who worked hard to mitigate your properties. Thank you all so much!
The Chipping Program will return in 2022! In the meantime, Jefferson County Colorado Government has 3 more Slash Collection weekends through the end of this month if you have more to dispose of. Details:
