This was totally expected. After you lock up people for a year, give them checks, there will be a pent up demand to buy stuff.
Bright side? American manufacturers might get some of that extra business.

The sideways ship didn't help, holding up the canal. JUST IN TIME INVENTORY planning did not help either.
It will interesting to see how business navigate the NEW NORM.

New normal? LOL. Normal is never normal, the only constant is change. I would guess we will see more price increases. As a former corporate buyer, I never cared for just in time or lean manufacturing. Right now money is cheap. I would be building up safety stocks if I can get them at a decent price, especially with inflation looming.

SO-O-O, my brother owns a ATV/.SNOW MACHINE/dirt bike repair shop, in Fairbanks, Alaska....INDEPENDENT,innovative thinking put him ON TOP during this parts fubar. He was on the phone, day and nite making calls to global,American mfg.companies to acquisition parts....piece meal, "U have 4..I'LL TAKE THEM...I have ONE, I'll take it, till he ended up with enough inventory to pretty much shut
down his competition in the town. It wasn't intentional,it was just obstinate obsession to replace his
inventory stock....THE BUSIEST YEAR EVER, because of his forward thinking....NO ONE ELSE had enough
parts.
