Forming an Urgent Care Facility Study / Action Team

23 Sep 2021 14:34 #1 by ConiferAreaCouncil
Thank you again to all that attended the September Town Hall Meeting! Our speakers, as always, presented invaluable information about many issues related to our community. If you weren't able to attend, and haven't had a chance to watch the video, please take some time to watch it HERE.

Based on the topics of our speakers, as well as recent and ongoing tragic events in the area, we learned of feedback via social media platforms, after the meeting. At least one community member feels that priority, focus and tax dollars should be placed and spent on Hwy 285 infrastructure and an urgent care facility rather than programs, trails, or a Conifer Library.

We heard you and are re-forming an Urgent Care Study / Action Team. According to past Conifer Area Council surveys, an Urgent Care Facility has been a high priority for our area and we have researched this before. At that time the # of people in our community did not support one. But it is time to study the possibilities again.

Although safety is obviously an extremely high priority, it is important to note that each priority, whether it be programs, trails or a Conifer Library, is supported by a different pool of funds and they are not competing interests. Conifer Area Council will continue to move forward in representing the desires of Conifer residents on all of your priorities and for Conifer to be provided the same services that other communities receive.

Conifer Area Council’s mission is “to provide a forum to identify and address community issues”. We’ve facilitated 75 Town Hall Meetings and an additional 25 Community Meetings to get information out to the community. To better understand what community members believe is most important, we’ve conducted four Comprehensive Conifer Community Surveys in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 with a return rate of up to 13.33% of community residents. According to both the 2014 and 2018 Conifer Community Surveys, community members say Conifer’s most pressing issues are:

1. Fire Vulnerability

2. Preservation of our Small-Town Character

3. Diminishing Water Supply

An Urgent Care Facility, Full-Service Conifer Library and Conifer Area Trails
are other priorities that always come out on top.

We currently have Study / Action Teams working on the following priorities:
· Trails
· Water Resources
· Conifer Library Services
· Urgent Care Facility
If you would like to be involved with any of these Study / Action Teams, please let us know. We would love to have you join us.
