Reminder to stay on alert today!

STAY ON ALERT TODAY!! Good morning community! Some weather predictions are for gusts as high as 100mph today. Yikes! The last time we had a sustained significant wind event like this, Elk Creek Fire ran 31 calls in one day - all downed trees and electrical lines and the hazards that come with those.

Please heed these reminders as we get through the weather together today:
  • Any trees (not just weakened ones) can come down quickly in winds like this, and sometimes powerlines come along. Heads up when you are outside!
  • Do not leave children or pets unattended outside.
  • Keep a close watch on any large animals that are pastured in treed areas.
  • Stay away from any downed power lines! Do not touch them!
  • Try to not park any vehicles under trees today.
  • Ultimately, it will be CORE Electric or Excel that will have to repair any damaged power lines. The fire department mitigates hazards in the meantime. However, if there are multiple events, it may take a while for the electric company to arrive. Please be patient with us and them. Thank you!
  • Do not start ANY TYPE of outside fire today!! High winds drive wildfire quickly!! :fire: :fire:
  • LASTLY, if you are home in the mountains today, we recommend staying inside, making a cup of hot chocolate, wrapping up in a blanket, and watching Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/your favorite binge-worthy channel. Overall, keep yourself and your family safe. :coffeenews:  :book: :fireplace:
As always, we are here if you need us!!
