Clear Creek Schools will be closed on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 due to the forecast of high winds and the potential for power outages.

From Jeffco Public Schools:

After consulting with Xcel Energy several times in the last 24 hours about the potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) scheduled for tomorrow, Jeffco Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, December 17. Charter school families, please check your school’s website to verify weather-related delays and closures.

Due to the large geographic area anticipated to be impacted by power outages across Jeffco tomorrow and unknown restoration times, we determined that our facilities will likely experience significant disruption that could pose a safety risk to students, families and staff.

The late hour of this decision reflects the consideration that went into it as well as the evolving nature of the situation. We consulted with many of our school leaders as well as state officials in making this decision. We acknowledge the inconvenience to our families and the disruption to our students who are focused on a strong finish to the semester.

Ultimately, our responsibility is to prioritize safety which includes the ability to safely transport students to and from school, and ensure they have safe and warm buildings for learning. We have worked to make the best decisions we can based on the information provided to us by Xcel.

All childcare programs, after-school activities and meetings scheduled to be in Jeffco Public Schools facilities are canceled. No Jeffco Public Schools transportation services will be provided for services within or outside the district.

Jefferson County offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 17 due to power outages. Xcel Energy has decided to conduct a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) to reduce the risk of wildfire and support public safety. Power to the Golden Campus, Evergreen, and other areas within Jefferson County will be shut off in an effort to prevent wildfires. Out of an abundance of caution, all Platte Canyon School District schools will be closed Wednesday, December 17, 2025, due to extremely high winds potentially causing hazardous travel and intermittent power outages. All school activities are cancelled tomorrow.
