A My Mountain Town 15 Year Anniversary

01 Apr 2026 22:29 #1 by ScienceChic
Fifteen years ago, the announcement was made of my purchase of this website/business, what eventually became known as My Mountain Town. So much has happened in that time, but what hasn't changed is our commitment to providing a place to find local information that impacts you most, be it emergencies, weather, local news, or events.

Awards:
My Mountain Town has won the Conifer Chamber Home-Based Business of the Year twice, been named the (now-defunct category) Best Local Website in The Flume's People's Choice Awards, and garnered several other nominations and accolades. We are currently nominated again for the Conifer Chamber's Home-Based Business of the Year Award ( voting is open until noon on April 18th should you wish to cast a vote for us)!

I've served on three Boards of Directors for area nonprofits, volunteered for multiple committees/nonprofit organizations, and spent hundreds of hours recording area meetings to load up to YouTube for anyone in the community to have access to that information. I've been blessed to have made lifelong friends and had the honor of working on projects that made our community better, like the Track Chair Program at Staunton State Park.

Through it all, I've raised kids and proudly watched them graduate high school (and college), moved out of state briefly, and returned to what will forever be home in my heart. The Foothills are a most special place, something we can all agree upon no matter our differences.

Ten years ago, I posted for the 5 year anniversary that we had 3,150 members, 3,867 Likes on our Facebook page, and a following of almost 2,000 on our Twitter account. Here's where we are as of today:
  • 8,728 MMT members
  • 14,900 events added to our Community Calendar
  • 460 ads displayed for 152 businesses, nonprofits, and individuals
  • 18,558 Facebook Followers, over 500,000 views in the past month (we've previously reached over 1 million in a month)
  • 3,427 Instagram Followers
  • 177 Subscribers on YouTube, 378 videos uploaded, 81,376 lifetime views
  • 4,328 X Followers
Those advertisers are what has kept this site going, in addition to the members and visitors who find it useful and worth checking regularly. Without all of you supporting this business, it would have no reason to continue, and for that, I cannot express my gratitude deeply enough.

The online world changes pretty rapidly, and yet we have not had any drastic upgrades for the past decade. It's past time to do so, and has been in the works for a while. We hope to roll out a brand new version of MMT for you in the near future that you will find more functional, better organized, and easier to search. Until then, please keep utilizing our Community Calendar by uploading or searching for events, keep tabs on the weather and breaking emergencies, and share what's on your mind.

Thank you all for being part of My Mountain Town!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

We are honored to share that we were voted Best Home-Based Business of the Year at the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce Awards. A tremendous thank you to whomever submitted nominations and votes for us, to everyone who has ever supported us, and to our fellow nominees who are just as amazing serving our community.

A total of 1,300 community members voted on this year’s winners.

They included:

Docia Boylen’s Handyman Connection for both the Norman F. Meyer award and Business of the Year
Sharon Trilk’s My Mountain Town as home-based business of the year
Devon Posey’s Tuffy’s Playhouse as rookie business of the year
Sharla Wright’s Community Nest as nonprofit of the year
Jacquie Cook of Suz Cookie Jar Rescue as ambassador of the year
Denise Bromberger of Image Marketing for the president’s award

From the Conifer Chamber:

What started as a way to bring people together has grown into a vital lifeline for connection across the 285 corridor. This home-based business has become a trusted hub for information, resources, and support- consistently showing up, sharing what matters most, and creating space for local voices to be heard.

They connect neighbors, spotlight local businesses, share community events and keep residents informed, all while fostering a sense of belonging that strengthens the entire region. Their success is rooted in authenticity, consistency, and a genuine passion for supporting the place we all call home.

And that’s why the 2026 Home-Based Business of the Year is My Mountain Town!

Proudly serving mountain Jeffco, Clear Creek & Park County!
