KNITTERS-OUR LOCAL TROOPS NEED YOU

26 Aug 2010 16:45 - 26 Aug 2010 20:18 #1 by KnitKnook
It is with great pleasure that the Knit Knook is sponsoring a Marine Corp Unit that includes a number of our Colorado men and women.
The Unit is 2 LAR A Company out of Camp Lejeune and has 250 marines including Denver native LCPL Nicholas Canfield, who's picture is on display at the Knit Knook.
The troops are requesting hand knit full faced helmet liners, made with 100% superwash wool and the pattern can be found at
website: http://denverlibrary.org/capsproject
pattern: http://denverlibrary.org/files/helmet.pdf
Wool in the appropriate colors will be available at Knit Knook. If you wish to participate and are a non-knitter, than please consider sponsoring a knitter at $10 per helmet liner.
We would like to outfit the entire unit of 250 marines. This unit will be deployed in late October when winter starts in Afghanistan. It takes 3 weeks to ship helmet liners. So, impossible as it may seem, we need to have these liners in the store by Oct. 11th.

Where do the non knitters send the money? Great stuff and I hope all the patriots on this site step up and put their money where their mouth is. Maybe a lib vs. con. contest would be revealing.

If you want to knit a full helmet liner the yarn is available for $10 at the Knit Knook in Aspen Park and if you want to just sponsor a knitter and give $10, bring it to the Knit Knook. The $10 will pay for the yarn for a knitter to knit a full helmet liner.
Let's see how many helmet liners we can get done by October 11!

K I'll bring the 10 dollars, your going to find this funny as discussed on another thread about the Conifer Aspen line... but where in Aspen Park, like by the new Safeway or Kings?

I will have to stop in and get some yarn. Gotta make sure I have the right kind.
