One thing I have learned in the mm is to try and memorize a few of the mm's around to maybe kind of help.

Good Point Chocolove. I have memorized several myself that are important to me in my travels home.

half the time we don't know if they are closed or not. Pinecam puts closed on them when they haven't heard anything in a while on a call.

thank you for posting them.

prefer in active topic link so tht i can make a comment if i choose.

i know where to look for them and it helps when they are on the front page or an active thread but for a newbie scrolling all the way down to the bottom before finding them would be challenging. i realize there are lots of important groupings but having to wade through a bunch of stuff to find them is frustrating.

Do you think a scroller on the front page like this one would be helpful?

http://disastersupportvolunteers.com/

Perhaps something like that as opposed to putting the posts in active topic. If you click on an incident....you are taken to the actual forum and can see all of the ongoing accidents.

The miles markers are stickied to the top of the "Road Scanner Updates" forum.

This ain't Pinecam hon!

Sorry lady was stuck in traffic and didn't want to post! Mile Markers are exactly what i'm talking about - where is mm199 or whatever. Is it THIS side of Kenosha or the other side - that would be good.

Don't get so damned defensive - so I read about something before leaving work that happened at 4 pm - is it still goin on at 5:15 when I head home? Do I need to watch out for anything?

And don't call me hon! I never said this was pinecam - you asked a question, you got some answers - quit yer bitchin and listen for a change.

I think the scanner posts are very important because this is the breaking news in our area. It's what will attract more people to the site, knowing that they can find out what's happining in their neighborhood or on the roads to and from work.

So many web sites are static - the scanner posts make it more dynamic, changing every minute. Our newspapers so often miss these events - or are more focused on the metro area events. Lately even the radio stations will report good weather and road conditions when we experience heavy snow and bad roads with accidents.

I think the scanner posts should be at the top of the front page for this reason. It's the latest news - local to our area. I like the idea of a scrolling headline that shows the last 3 scanner posts.

Boy....talk about panties being bunched up way to tight.

More often than not we will post that crews are clearing the scene. Do you need more info than that?

These folks are volunteers who spend a huge amount of their time to help provide this information to you.
Perhaps you would prefer to decode information at that other site!

Scanners are very important. Same with pets forums. It is about a public service to the community. And if it helps one person or saves one person or animal it is worth it. We appreciate the hard work and time scanner volunteers and all the volunteers put in. The people that do this do it as a labor of love.

No reason to criticize. Maybe work together?
