The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) begins paving U.S. 285 between Bailey and the Conifer area next week.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 7, and includes rotomilling and resurfacing the highway, in the following sequence:
Bailey Area
Bailey east to the top of Crow Hill (mile 222.3 – 224.1)
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. to noon
Pine Junction Area
Deer Creek Interchange east to Shaffers Crossing (mile 225 – 231.1)
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. to noon
Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. (one week maximum)
Kings Valley Area
Shaffers Crossing east to Richmond Hill Interchange (mile 231.9 – 233.2)
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. to noon
Drivers can expect traffic stops up to 10 minutes as flaggers alternate or direct traffic through the work zone. A reduced 45 mph speed limit also will be in effect during work hours.
In addition to paving, the project also includes upgrading several shoulder segments, raising and replacing several sections of guardrail, and new striping.
Lafarge West Inc. of Longmont, CO is the contractor for the $2.7 million project, which is expected to be completed by October 2010.
