Friday evening I started feeling bad heart palpitations after a disagreement with my dear husband. Although I have lived in Bailey two years, I am still unfamiliar with the hospitals, other than University Hospital where a few out of town friends had visited. Further, I didn't think that I could drive to any hospital since I was feeling dizzy.
So I drove to the First Station on top of Crow Hill hoping to find that they would take me to a hospital in Denver. I never expected the level of professionalism and medical expertise that I received. Within a few minutes they had my hooked up to several monitors and on the way to Swedish Hospital. Gabe, the EMT who rode in back with me, explained that I had atrial fibrillation, what options that doctors at the hospital would have for getting my heart pumping normally, and got an IV line placed with the least discomfort ever, all while driving on our mountain roads.
By the time that I got to the hospital I felt so much better, even though the EKG in the ambulance still showed my heart was still not working properly. I was met at the hospital by a team of doctors arranged by the ambulance, and still Gabe stayed with me at the hospital until the hospital had me set up and stabilized.
As I sit here, I am still so blown away by the professionalism and medical expertise of the EMTs of such a little mountain town. I am also forever grateful for the kindness that was shown to me.
don't go back into atrial fibrillation when you get the ambulance bill though.

Thank you for posting this bethannt! It's always so nice to hear when good things happen too! EMT's have a tough job and knowing we have awesome ones to help our area adds extra respect and thankfulness from me! Best wishes for a continued happy, regular heart!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
