CDOT awards $960,000 for construction of Pine Junction park-n-Ride

The Colorado Department of Transportation on Jan. 20 approved the awarding of $960,000 to the Denver-based Regional Transportation District to fund a large portion of the costs to build a permanent park-n-Ride facility in Pine Junction.

I don't get it. They already own the land, so what does the $1.2 million pay for other than to bulldoze the dirt parking area and turn-around?

Can't they afford to pave it too? I guess I'm missing something...

Pine....I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm very, very, grateful to have a permanent Park n Ride, but quite disappointed to hear that it probably will just be another dirt lot. I don't get it.

I heard that the land next to Hutch lumber--where that big gas tank sits--is the new location. Anyone know if that's true?

As stated in the article above

"The permanent park-n-Ride facility would be built on property owned by RTD along Mount Evans Boulevard, next to Hutchison Lumber in Pine Junction."

I would imagine that a lot of the cost would come from excavation and putting in drainage for a concrete lot, but that is just my opinion. I really have no idea.
