Last night the Bailey Patchworkers held our monthly meeting. We had a "swap meet" of sorts - a planned purging of each member's sewing room.
There were books, fabric, patterns, notions, etc. The gals brought instructions for projects they've already made or ones they realized they'd never get around to.
Some items found new homes with the quilt group members, but it was decided that anything leftover would be donated to local organizations.
A carload of fabric was designated for People Comforters. That organization makes quilts & comforters for JCSO Victim Services & Child Advocacy. The deputies & local firefighters keep them in their vehicles and use as needed when on calls for service as well.
So, on to this "mother lode".........
I just dropped off a carload of items of interest to quilters & crafters at the IMHS thrift store.
- DOZENS of books for quilt projects (a few knitting/cross-stitch as well).
- DOZENS of individual patterns for quilts, totes, garments, holiday projects.
- 2 large boxes of completed, knitted squares . One box contained pastels, another brights. If you have the skill & are willing to put these squares together (they're about 9-10" each) you'd have a great afghan or baby blanket in the blink of an eye. Most of the work is already done!
- DOZENS of sewing patterns. Butterick, Simplicity, etc. Baby clothes, scrubs, pajamas, men's clothing, home decor.....There were a few vintage ones in there judging by the style & original .75 price tags.
- There's some notions and misc items as well.
If this is up your alley, get to the thrift store! You'll walk away with some treasures at a fraction of their original cost & heaps of inspiration. You'd also be helping out a fabulous organization.
